Emanuel was not always so. He was once an angel named Castiel, who did with Free Will what God expected of him and hung himself with it. But between that time and when Emanuel awoke on the shore of the lake, he awoke on a different shore of a different lake, and he became Thursday.
He was called Jimmy Novak by the staff of the Institute because that’s who he was identified as. But Thursday insisted he was not Jimmy, which earned him, combined with the amnesia, the diagnosis of being in an fugue state, along with schizophrenia and severe hydrophobia that required him to be drugged to be bathed. He was given the nickname Thursday by another patient, and it was what he answered to.
But it couldn’t hold that way for long.
He had to return to the water.
