Emanuel was surprised that the first shift from Sam was as peaceful as it was. He glanced at the clock on the man’s dash. “Three hours” he replied, “We may be nearing a stop soon. Did you sleep well?” Sam seemed alright, which was relieving.
“…yeah. Yeah, I did.” Sam looked just as surprised. “Shocking, I know.” Cricket’s ears perked up slightly and he stroked her ears idly. “A rest stop sounds good…”
Emanuel might have smiled a little. “Yes. That is very good.”
It wasn’t very long that the blue sign came up on the horizon, and the man pulled over. He complimented them both on how quiet they were, and how well-behaved Cricket was. Emanuel climbed out, doing a stretch even though he felt comfortable enough.
